The Island
By Oni
© July 31, 2002
Theme - Mystic
With a wave of her slender hand,
A young woman opens up the world that she belongs to.
As the wind carries her to the rocky shore,
She sees with her mind through the eyelids
An island shrouded in grey silks of mist.
The sweet melody that becomes clearer
As she nears the sacred land is felt
With flowing of the blood in her body.
Walking up the old stone path and stairs,
Up to the old stone altar,
The song illuminates her pale skin
And the tears that fall from her raven eyes.
Kneeling on the moist ground with
A light kiss upon the cold stone,
The young woman prays to the singer:
The Goddess of the land.
She hears the whispering chants of a human
And appears infront of the woman.
What comes out of the Goddess' mouth is song,
But the thoughts dripping through her fingers, are words.
Placing fingertips upon the young woman's forehead,
She conveys her gratitude of the faithful woman.
And as the woman's sisters come back to the island,
Their Goddess of Life grows stronger.
Many years pass, and the sacred land
Has its original people restored.
The faith of the people has only grown stronger,
The lands grown richer,
The mists grown thicker...
And my song, felt with the people's blood, clearer.

I like this a lot. The fantasy quality here is outstanding, so of course you have my vote. This reads a little like prose, but I love it anyway. Great job!
For the book!
