They spoke in whispers, smiles they wore,
Young lovers in the park.
Hand to hand and sparkling eyes,
They shared their love till dark.

In watching them, I thought of you,
When we too were as they.
Young and filled with future hopes,
Our love no trial could sway.

So often did we find the time,
Our days, they could not end.
Talking, dreaming, planning life,
Together we to spend.

Our love so strong it could not break,
Nor bend when troubles came.
We fought the storms of discontent,
And not each other blame.

The years were filled with happiness,
Like true love ought to be.
Until that night when heaven called,
Then took your love from me.

So now when I see young ones kiss,
My thoughts will turn to you.
And how our lips will meet again,
When my time here is through.

Together we shall ever love,
Till time itself does end.
Please wait for me, as I do you,
These thoughts, to you I send.

Awww! I love this poem.

I like the way you've linked two stories..in a way. The love you and your partener shared, and the love of the couple in the park.

Also, the juxtaposition of happiness and sadness. It might just be me...but I think there's an underlying sadness in this poem, that you're not with your love, but happiness that you know it's everlasting, even if you're not together right now.

I think this works really well....great writing. Keep up the good work! :)

Now this is a pure lymric with great flow and nice content. In the first line of the next to last stanza the rythm is taken way off, but it jumps right back into it. You might think about changing it.
