Sleepless Winter's Night

Shaken with visions I cannot explain,
I am catapulted from silence,
to silence, where the air is still and free of warmth~

Curiosity shuffles briefly around my feet
Questioning in a strange, but understandable language
my odd presence, before wandering off into darkness again~

Frozen history stares out at me from dimly lit walls
calling to mind a lifetime's worth of possible dreams,
I study their colors and expressions for signs of reason
trying to define my present state of existence~

The day passed, rolls through my mind
and I strain to see if the meaning hides within,
but things said and heard alike, blur,
filtered through a tired mind in need of rest~

Then time announces the coming of history,
reminding me of the precious moments
that require clarity~

and so,

I end the search, and venture off again
to that which I cannot explain
resolved that maybe if not shadowed by the past,
the future may hold the truth I seek~.

Even though this is the only post I have seen by you, I think you have talent. I liked this immensely, but think it could be written well as prose, or expanded into a short story. You have an interesting view point and a very unique writing style. I hope you maintain that. It has proven to be quite good.

I liked your opening the best. It captured my attention before anything else did. I think this one will do well in our upcoming poetry book. Welcome to the site and I hope to see many more of your works.
