OH! The Shawshank Redemption was on TV a few days ago on TBS.. loveeed it!
Um. Okay. Lemme think
1) Demolition Man/Judge Dredd I love Sly Stallone and Wesley Snipes and Sandra Bullock in Demolition Man. The story's just so different, and the same goes for Judge Dredd. I love scifi and action movies when they're put together, plus there always seems to be weird jokes in 'em :D I've seen these movies so much I've just about memorized the movie script, mwah.
2) The Fifth Element Again, another scifi movie ripe with special effects and action. Bruce Willis plays a good scifi hero and again, with this movie, the plot/storyline is so vastly different from most scifi flicks you're likely to see. Plus I love that chick's hair! lol I haven't seen it in awhile, but I'm trying to buy it on DVD for my new spiffilicious DVD player.
3) StarGate: Children of the Gods Okay. Only the best pilot movie for the BEST scifi show on right now! Granted, the movie's cast is vastly different from the orginal StarGate movie, but Children of the Gods launched StarGate: SG-1 into TVs across the world. The movie is just so cool, well written and
awesome cast. Most poeple didn't like the movie--but regardless if you did or did not like the movie, ya should definately give the series a chance (which, I might add, will be going into it's SEVENTH SEASON on scifi this year). StarGate SG-1 the series this year gave SciFi it's highest ratings in the history of the network. Yeah. So. if you remotely like SciFi they're gonna be showing the last three episodes of the season on Friday on the Scifi Channel at 9pm EST I think. This movie could also tie for my fave. movie, lol.. (More info check out
GateWorld.Net :D)
4) The Lion King lol, I'm sorry. I love this movie to death. I remember first seeing it when I was 8 and it was my first Drive In Movie Theater movie I ever saw. (And my last..) I think it's one of the best Disney movies out there and that they descrated the movie by making a sequel to it. The songs kick ass, and the story kicks ass. I don't think that Disney'll ever be able to top the money they made on this blockbuster.
5) A Knight's Tale Two words.
Heath Ledger. Hunky young peasant squire who begins to masqurade as nobleman and competes in the jousting sport. FUCKING FUNNY! They play old rock songs at the weirdest places. in fact, it opens p with (I think it's Queen's?) "We Will Rock You" and peasants doing the wave as the joust begins, lol. This movie is bascially a comedy/drama/medieval period movie/action/romance. Can't sum it up better than that. The movie was shot in Prague in the Czech Repbulic, so that makes the scenary awesome. I highly recommend this movie if ya want a good laugh. And plus, it has sex appeal for everyone There's Jocelyn that Heath Ledger's character is chasing, and in one scene she does wear some pretty revealing stuff and there's Heath Ledger! **purrs**. (I actually perfer his red haired, fiery tempered friend Wat, lol) but don't take my word for it, go watch this movie!
6) Shrek
7) Blues Brothers (the first one)
8) Moonraker (think James Bond, people)
9) Star Trek: Nemesis (still in the theaters)
10) Star Trek: The Undiscovered CountryI like me scifi flicks, lol.
Now Playing: No Doubt - Don't Speak [acousticversion]

This is in no real order, but Empire is def. no. 1.
1.)George Lucus's Star Wars, Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back--I don't know why, but Star Wars in general is just great. The movie relaxes me and puts me to sleep almost every time I watch it. I love the scene where Leia and Han first kiss. Good stuff. Oh yeah, and the ever-famous "I am your father" scene. The look on Luke's face is timeless.
2.)Chris Columbus's Home Alone--I know this is a children's movie, but this movie has scenes that almost always make me cry. Especially the scene in the church where Kevin talks to Old Man Marley.
3.)Stephen Spielberg's E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial-- This film is just great. I recently got it on DVD for my birthday. This movie ALMOST makes me cry at times, especially little Gerdie when she says, "Where's Mexico?" and their mother gets all upset.
4.) Chris Columbus's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone--I know, another Chris Columbus film. This guy really knows how to make children's movies! Yet again, this movie makes me tear up. example: Harry in front of the Mirror of the Erised. I dunno why.
5.) Peter Jacksons's Fellowship of the Ring--That's right, I didn't include the Two Towers. I didn't like the changes very much. Anyways, Fellowship is a great film because of its beauty, great shots, great dialoge, and amazing fight scenes. Not to mention it opened me up to a whole new world of books! I read "The Hobbit" and "LOTR" after this movie and I'm hooked!
Other favorites that didn't make top 5:
SW:A New Hope, SW: Return of the Jedi, Austin Powers 2, Shrek, Muppet's Christmas Carol, Home Alone 2, About a Boy, The Wizard of Oz, Little Women, and Angela's Ashes.

this is such an unfair thread for me to read... *pouts* there are too many to pick from.. but ok, here i go.
these are in no particular order, btw.
1) RHPS ( i'm just a sweet transvestite.. come one, wahts not to love about a movie starring Tim Curry in a teddy and fishnets? )
2) Demon Knight (cheesy '90s horror at its finest. billy zane, jada pinkett, and william sadler... so bad, its great.)
3) Silence of the Lambs (anything with crazy serial killers fascinates me, and eer since i saw this for the first time, i've loved it. anthony hopkins was absolutely amazing as Hannibal, and Jodie Foster was brilliant as Clarice. and the way it was filmed... great. *sighs dreamily*)
4) Princess Bride (ok.. the original story was supposed to be a social satire on the wealthy.. never could tell from teh movie, huh? and it has Andre the Giant in it! come on!)
5) Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (this is a no-brainer for anyone who knows me.. i mean, its monty python in what is definately their funniest film. "there are some who call me.... Tim...")
6) Stand By Me (this is one of the movies that can make me cry most eveytime i watch it. i can laugh and cry whilst watchign this, and rob reiner did a great job directing. plus it stars a young corey fedman and river phoenix.. and keifer sutherland *drools*)
7) The Great Mouse Detective (umm.. what can i say about this? its jsut great.)
8) Labyrinth (yet again, this is a given for anyone who knows me.. David Bowie was great, and he had a fantastic crotch! i wonder if it was created by Jim Henson and Frank Oz?)
9) O Brother! Where art thou? ( the cohen brothers did an awesome job retelling the Odyssey. Gerge CLooney was great, and John turturro was so damn funny as Pete.)
10) Blues Brothers (yeah... umm.. duh? i namd my new kittens Jake and Elwood, i think thats a clue as to how much i love this movie...)
i would als like to mention that a few of my favorite movies aren't on there b/c they are the works of two of my fav. writers/ diectors. ANY film by either Tim Burton (including Frankenweenie) or Quentin Tarantino is an automatic favorite of mine. but their movies would have taken up the whole list and them some...
