POEM IN 5 Parts.

1. "The Silence Of Time"

And yet the silence
Was not so great,
For I could still hear
The ticketedy-boo
Of my beating heart.
Or is that "time"?

But the rest of the silence was enough
For me to remember her tonight,
Remember her and cry softly
In my soul.

Perhaps I should remind myself
About the words I had wrote
In a poem about silence:
"Please make me a noise..."

For I remember now
How lonely silence can become
For the lonely.

2. "=(?)="

"Goodbye,
Good luck,
And I'll no doubt see you floating past my window
One warm day."

Sorry I was only talking
To another brain-cell.
=?=
After I forgot
Yet another name
Of another friend.

3. "Dying Oak"

If the trees
Could sing,
Then the birds
Would be heard
As snarls...

Snarls
To ruin the sound
From Heaven
And
The sound of
A dying oak

Just like me.

4. "Buttercup Moon" (November.)

"Goodbye old moon"
As I've said before,
For you might be
The last yellow moon
That I see.

"Goodbye old moon"
For my time is up,
You will have to keep on shining without me
Sweet Buttercup.

---
5. "The End Of A Poem"

The end of a poem
That few will ever read
And fewer will care about.

So what is new there boyo?
What is new?

The end of a poem
As I wind down
In the field of corn
In front of the
Combined harvester.

Suprisingly enough LP, I actually enjoyed this one. It took a sober approach to your bizarre style, and I liked a few things going on here. The floating past a window, then the dead brain cell. Worked like seeing a casked floating by a window.

the silence of time was actually really good. I liked the used of a random sound effect for you heart beat, and then parallelling that to the sound a clock makes, and then effectively using lonliness within lonliness.

The dying Oak was a nice poem that worked well to show the beauty of a tree, and thus the beauty of the author,(no I'm not hitting on you).

I liked the ending for some strange reason. If I ever come to grips with it, I will tell you. Good to see ya round LP.

Well, I think this belongs in the book as much as any.

Damn, I was impressed too. Glad to see you moved it to the book babe. *applauds*

Didn't know about this one! Thank you everyone!

I am not here on Drytear as much as I like, having a lot else to do in my life, but I have liked many of the poems and cannot tear myself away from this forum. The best Poetry Forum on the whole of the WWW.

Heh, I remember suggesting this one to John for the book...Highly enjoyed this one, LP, it's great. Vaguely reminiscent of some of Eliot's writings.

My favorite stanza was the first one, The Silence of Time, it really strikes a chord in me.

Thanks for sharing.

That was awesome!

Hey old Friend,

Alf here, and I just wanted to add my two cents of awe.
Look me up if you ever read this...

Surprised to find myself here, sure thing old buddy, the Three-Headed Sarahs' pinched my username to criticise a poem of yours in "Sad Poetry"
sir arthur hardwill
Sure thing. I almost shot the birds, it looked as if they were trying to eat my poetry. But then I realized it was the Sarahs' and threw them a cat instead.

You guys are clinically insane, you know. But I guess that's your certification as bonafide good writers. This is just, WOW, Lord Pineapple. Each of the pieces, unique shards of writing bound by melancholy, is solid. No filler here. I truly enjoyed this.

It's easy to read the great works of some long-dead and great author that I never knew.

It's something else entirely to read a piece from a great writer that I shared a connection with... reading this brings a heaviness beyond words.

Godspeed, old friend.
Word Burn
Indeed. The taste of bittersweet is one not easily forgotten.
