All right guys, to do this we're probably going to have to work with a local hotel, which means we need to get an approximation of how many members will be coming.

So, if you're even interested in coming, please give us a heads up. Also give us a heads up on if you're going to want a room all to yourself, or if you're willing to do the less expensive sharing of a room.

Also, could you tell us if you're thinking of driving or flying? We may be getting some roadtrip carpools together from various locations, or if people are along the same route.

It's going to be the weekend of Jan 13th (which is the Sat.), and it's going to be in San Francisco. However, since it's FAR cheaper to stay outside of San Francisco, and BART it in (Bay Area Rapid Transit), it'll probably be a hotel in or around the East Bay Area (you have two tour guides who know the area this way).

As for the Days Inn, the only one I know of is in Martinez- our county seat, but that's a fair ways out of the way- even if it looks close on a map (thank you whoever used a slinky as the straight edge to draw the freeways).

Definitely add my name to the list. Hopefully myself and MadKingWinter can road trip it. I have a mini-van, so I'm sure that will cut back on the need for a few people to rent a car.

I'm currently planning it. Problems that could arise would be:

1. no one to watch my kids
2. travelling all the way across the damn country with two kids
3. obvious financial issues that can arise at any time with having two kids and a friend staying with you indefinitely
4. my jealous husband threatening the lives of all the men involved (TOTALLY joking lol)

I would be staying at a hotel, and am currently accepting applications for roomies. I will try to fly in, considering travel time would be RIDICULOUS if I drove (what, two days at best?), and I'd get there about the time you all would be leaving, so, please don't leave my ass at the airport! If I can afford the expense of renting a car, I will do that, considering having one more vehicle to tote people in would probably be helpful.

i'm planning on it, roadtrip style out of KansasCity, Mo...so it should be a fun drive...i'm going to skip the first day or so of school to come. Got my fiance with me . wish i had a mini-van, driving a compact all the way out.

*sigh* I would LOVE, I mean LOVE to show up, but...sadly I know I won't be able too...First off, I'll only be 17, and second, I would have no way to get there, and third, there's no WAY my parents would allow that. None. I couldn't pay them enough to let me, lol. It's a good thought, and I want to hear all about it after it happens!

i live in san diego -- which i think is only about 8 hours south of san fran. but i am married with three kids and i dont have the time to think much less go to san fran ..



plus, i have this problem with crowds --- i cant be around a bunch of people -- and when i am and people start bumping into me or coming near me i get crazed and start swinging --- dont know what you call it (other than crazy) -- i cant even go to concerts anymore or to the movies -- makes my wife crazy . then again -so does everything else i do .


plus i dont think i could be in a room with that many liberals -- thats like asking the fox to guard the chickens and we all know how that turns out :P

Most likely canidate will be a Holiday Inn Express in Walnut Creek. It's a chain, and will probably provide a nice group discount.

Yeah I think it'll be safe to say we'll set out Saturday as being the day we all get together and do things throughout the day, if you decide to stick around longer then I'm sure there will be plenty to do!

I'll apply for the living situation of roomie in cali Sammie. I would adore it. I would have to fly, so I have to start saving money NOW! My car definetly won't make it. My current roommate Daniel wants to come. He's super rich and his grandmother has a full-time suite in some hotel down there. if he comes, then I will room with him and put it all on his grandmothers tab. But I'm not positive about that. I doubt our boss would let both of us off at the same time, but we can always try. But you can count me in. I will swap schedules at work with some friends (who ever is still working here at that time, and I will get seniorority because I've been here longest out of day staff) and I'll fly in on Friday morning out of Dallas. Anyone else might be coming that way, we can try to schedule our flights to be the same because DAMN! I get lost easily.

All right, the basics:

When we do get the deal with the hotel locked in, we'll start looking at coordinating recommended flights for people to take, including connecting flights from different locations in a general area. Please keep in mind, if you come in on a coordinated flight it will be arriving a few days before the 13th, since we're going for less expensive off-peak flights.

We'll also be making sure to assign people who are flying into rooms together, thus ensuring that everyone in one room is coming in on the same day, and leaving on the same day.

With the coordinated flights, we can also try to get a person out to the airport to meet you, thus avoiding people getting lost.

I may be coming VIA Dallas. Not sure yet, I too have to start getting some pnnies together and we need to set up an official list of whose coming!

The date may be an issue for me. I'd lean toward a time in Feb rather than Jan. At work we're starting to plan Q1 and Q2 shedules and Jan is already getting packed with potential assignments.

The date is perfect for me. I don't mind trying to get a different date off. Just let me know as soon as possible. And Adam, I live less that 3 hours from Dallas, so that is where I will be fllying from too. My aunt lives about 20 minutes from the airport so I can just leave my car at her house and she can drive me to DFW. But I'm warning you, DFW is an interesting airport. Easy to get lost in unless you follow the crowd! Its the one time that you should definetly follow the leader!

Well the 13th is my birthday and I volunteered it because there was some concern about college students, if I remember correctly, but this topic isn't generating SO much interest that I can see the date being set in stone... February would also be better for me, because then Joe would be home and I wouldn't have to take Kadin out of school, drive with both kids by myself the 15 hours to St. Louis, PRAY that my mom could take them to work with her, then catch a flight to CA, and do the same thing backwards again on the return trip. It'd be MUCH easier to just catch a flight to Cali from Jacksonville and leave the kids with their DAD! lol But I also don't want to force everyone else to reschedule around me (and apparently Duende lol). Any input on that, guys?

LOL I actually requested it not be in Atlanta because traffic is CRAZY. Plus, of the people talking in the meeting, I think most were closer to the west coast so I was content to not push for it to be anywhere else.
