I don't know how happy this is, but oh well.
I am the baseball player who never wins,
Yet I do not quit, I'll hit the ball.
I am the dog who is thrice abandoned,
Yet I do not quit, I'll be cared for.
I am the toddler who cannot seem to stand,
Yet I do not quit, I'll gain my balance.
I am the '44 Chevy that will not start,
Yet I do not quit, I'll win the race.
I am the grade-schooler who cannot read,
Yet I do not quit, I'll learn the words.
I am the young undergrad doing odd jobs,
Yet I do not quit, I'll soon be famous.
A am the backpack torn and ripped from misuse,
Yet I do not quit, I'll carry my load.
I am teh teenager who is lonely and lost,
Yet I do not quit, I'll find my place.
I have said it before, but,
I'll hit the ball,
I'll be cared for,
I'll gain my balance,
I'll win the race.
I'll learn the words,
I'll soon be famous,
I'll carry my load,
I'll find my place.
Realism is the world's philosophy,
But optimism keeps me alive.
