Lol. I find it hilarious that no one has posted here yet. *sigh* Quite funny actually. Lol. Mostly, once I'm done with a poem, I'm done. I know I did go back to your poem called "Hum", and I continue to look at Samia's poem about the male whores. Good stuff. Funny as hell. Other than that, I don't really go back to many poems. I know...I horrid...

Sarah!! My face is beet red!! Lol, Your'e too sweet. Let's see....The Dawn before the Storm from Surrealdeicide, Pretty man from Cassandra, Honour posted by Lord Pineapple, but written by Ingar Gorse(read this! it's short, but...wow..just read it.), and I found a new favorite that I can't stop reading from Sarah-Butterfly called On Fire...real, raw emotion...don't even get me started. I'm sure there are a whole bunch more, but these are just off the top of my head that really struck me, check them out.

ettr, Great stuff guys. I keep going back to the poem "Drawing Jena Malone" by
ThePianoMan. Chavez could never write a bad poem.
Hey, it looks like Arthur's got someone sticky sweet on him! Oooooh, it's a kissing booth!
A cookie, yes from me. Cause I have such interesting subject matter, you'd think my life were an early twentieth-century lithograph done by Tolouse-Lautrec. Such feats of color, eh? Well, I'm starting to think that I am GOOD, damn skippy good. And why not, you all think that you are good ones too. Glad you come back for more Sam.. cause you know, there is plenty from whence that came.

Kate's (Cyf's) poem, Listen and Wait... I've read that one a dozen times or so. It always gives me shivers. It's amazing.
And April's got two or three that I read a lot, I'm so bad with titles... and yes, ettr.
HARTCRANE! I'm head over heals for that poet... always hiding in the Crit Eval dungeon.
that Drawing Jena Malone poem knocks my socks off!
I have favorite poets more than favorite pieces. certain styles appeal to me, I suppose... and even more than a poem as a whole, certain verses or lines will affect me more than anything. That's where April gets me. And Thistle, yes. And... right now, I'm trying to hide my adoration of Victoria's "Love Me Bleeding" since it's still a work in progress. I think it's the depth of that ending itself (But you,/You love me bleeding.) wow. blows me away.
Another new favorite is Corwin. he's got great vision. And Bryan endeared me to his work early on. I read his 'Oceanic' a lot.
Of course, the Pineapple, in all his insanity... ends up having haunting clarity.
Let's see... I know there's a few poems that I've gone back to over and over but since I was on vacation so long, I didn't and can't remember what they were! How horrible of me!!
Am I gonna get a cookie or some ice cream or something for buttering up all my favorites? Maybe a restraining order? lol

Aug 12 2003, 04:22 AM
Almost everything Sir Arthur Hardwill writes knocks me out. All of his work is so hauntingly beautiful, and I almost always can relate. I read most of his stuff over and over, and I've read some of it so much that I have memorized all of the words. My simple words cannot do his work justice.
My two other personal favorites would have to be Bryan (DaBomb) and Samantha (Lunar Veil), I typically return to there stuff as well. All three are really good at leaving footprints on my heart.

Enjoying the plugs. And I have to return them. I had sooo many poems that caught my attention that I had to search them out to be fair to the hard-working authors. Here's a list of
some that I loved:
chocolatecheese - after the rape of me (Oh My God)
Sir Arthur - Texas, Namarie
LunarVeil - Hortus Obscurus (hidden in Critical Evaluation), Everywhere I Want You
Amay - Amnesia, I Still Love You
Corwin - Requiem for a Dream, Untitled's
ettr - Vagabonding, Like Being Dead to Me
Chavez - My Traveling Companion
thistle - Imagine a Night
Shiara - Love Me Bleeding
Adaline - Lack of Love
Lord Pineapple - Piece of Ireland, She Could Have Left
Cyfarwydd - Listen and Wait, Voiceless Wonder
Sarah-Butterfly - I Tell You in the Silence
Phoenix - Broken
formulapassion - Gluttony
Duende - dancing between raindrops
Beloved - Untitled (stream)
falcon - She Twists Her Ring
November Rain - Blood in Tears
As I said, these were just
some of the ones that struck me enough to return to. And there's so much more here to peruse (although Amay, chocolatecheese, LunarVeil, Sir Arthur, Cyf, Corwin and Beloved are my current must-read poets - yeah, that's my
short list.)

Well.... I guess Ill be the only one to mention Sundry's work.... he always has a mystery surrounding him... especially when he writes because he leaves you asking for more... and its kinda like you are aching to have a drink of your favorite soda... and youre only allowed a sip. It sucks... but thats the only way I can describe it...
Plus... I knew Sams' poetry... waaaaaaayyyy before you all did... so :P
Im biased I know... but she always makes me cry... heh... much like when she sings... I read her stuff all the time... Im the president of Sams' nurd fan club.
I also enjoy Dragonblaze's work... it always takes me far away from my own problems.. in the form of a story...
Songbird.... lil Kara... heh... She always packs a lot of punch within her work... I just wish I had some of her talent...
I really like Aprils' work too.... but sometimes it strikes a certain chord with me... that I have no words... hence the reason I never really respond to her work... because a lot of times, Im completely speechless.
Ummm.... I like Sir Arthurs' work for the same sense that he always makes me say out loud "awwwww"... heh.
I really like Lydias' stuff... I havent seen much from her... but I always revisit her work.
I think thats just the top level of my list... theres plenty more where that came from... but I would bore you to death... heh.

There is one distinctive poem that i have returned to many times and still enjoy to this day. It was an inspiring poem for me. The poem is
Fall by Vic.
I have also returned to several of Chavez's poems before now. Always find something to enjoy in his poetry.
April and Sam are two other poets i look out for when the desire to read poetry takes me. Something that has become rare this year.

Thanks for the praise, mis amigos. And as Bryan said, I've gotta return it.
Let's see, fave poets...Lord Pineapple, most definitely, his writing is ....(rats, Sam, you took the best description of his work with "haunting clarity") :)
Bryan's stuff is really good, as is corwin's, Arthur's, and sundry's...all beautiful writing styles. Arthur has fantastic imagery and has mastered the art of writing and conveying an emotional impact and making it look easy. Sundry's stuff is always intriguing, gives me the feeling of wandering through a mental maze of mirrors and emotions, while corwin's is a treat to read out loud, it flows off the tongue. Bryan has an amazing way with words that teases the feelings out of you, his works are a pleasure to read.
Chavez always fills the need for realistic writing that makes you feel everything a little more intensely, and makes you breathe a little more shallowly as you try to recover from his work, and April does the same. I don't know how better to explain the feeling that Chavez and April's writings give me, they're truly beautiful.
Sam is one of my absolute favorite poets to read on FC...I confess, I've gone through entire sections of DT and searched for all of her pieces...wiled away many an hour that way. Sam has an emotional strength behind her writing that is quite inspiring.
I reread Paul's "In Those Times" quite often, really enjoy that one.
I'm bad at remembering poem titles, else this post would be full of links to all the wonderful poems I keep rereading...I'll have to find some of them and come back and link them.
And thanks to this thread, I have a new poet to go investigate, ettr. Haven't read any of his/her posts before...
Thanks to everyone who posts in DT for sharing all of your wonderful poetry...quite an honor to be allowed glimpses and peaks into everyone's lives and thoughts. :flowers:

What are you talking about Bryan? Is there something odd going on within this poem? :P Yes, it is all rather amusing isn't it. The poem is very good though, as all of his are. *sighs* So talented he is, and as Vic said, he makes it look easy. And Samantha's poem that Bryan mentioned is very beautiful, one of my favorites by her.

Thanks, Shiara, for the nod on my poem. I like this idea of dredging up poems. It gives me a chance (without words) to say now what i didn't then. There are a few poems I'm going to miss. I could not find them. I apologize. Sundry, there were just too many posts to sort through to find what I was looking for, ya know? So, please, everyone, go back and reread Sundry's skydiving poem, whereever it is.

Indeed. Some great poets and their work have already been listed. The following is my personal list, the poets that I am always on the lookout for and some of my favorite poems that they have written.
Ashley(Amay): Old Hank Williams Sr. Albums… an ephemeral reverie to our childhood.
Gabrielle(Beloved): Too Long… a simple yet stunning poem about an absent love.
April(Chocolatecheese): Hand in the Sky… a sultry love wonderfully expressed.
Kate(Cyfarwydd): Listen and Wait... a well constructed poem of longing.
Bryan(Da Bomb): Overcast… a perfectly focused photograph of grief.
Terry(Lord Pineapple): I Was There... yet another tragically beautiful piece.
Samantha(LunarVeil): Burying the Summer… an overwhelming flood of emotion.
Victoria(Shiara): Fall... a short yet extremely powerful diamond.
As I said, these are my favorite writers, each a poet in a different shade of light and life. All of them have a priceless collection of poems capable of impacting my heart, my mind, and my soul. My compliments to all of them.

Thank you for your many kind words.
There's so many wonderful writers here and there have been many times I'm overwhelmed with the talent.
I feel almost bad naming my favorites because I haven't read every poem and I'm sure there are many gems I've missed.
However right now I can't get enough of these.

These four poets represent a lot of talent. Each of them take the time to help and guide the other poets on the site. Their comments are constructive and you can tell they put time into listening to what others say and improving their own poems.
Thank you to everyone on the site for your great talent. You guys always give me something to work towards.

Oh dear, sorry I've read this now, I was blissfully ignorant of all the comments!
Insane, someone suggested (in a nice way!) Not so, poetry is not a hobby to me, it is an obsession.
A stroke has destroyed a lot of my past, but it left my poetry alone. Wrote 17 poems yesterday, though that does not mean that they (or I) are any good.
Thank you all, there are poets I read again rather than poems. I dive for Arfur's, Beloved, The Welsh wizard and so on. Unfair of course as there are good poets out there.

there are so many good poets here i would be hard pressed to list them all...i can, however, list a few that seem to have missed these lists...falcon writes with an honesty that amazes me...there was a poet named thinkin that could almost match falcons brilliance...in fact they wrote a poem together, one i was able to contribute to by way of editing thinkins work as they wrote it...it's called "the candle", i believe...you might find it in the 2002 book if i remember right...thinkins "saving grace" has always amazed me...anyway, i just thought i'd mention this if anyone's interested...
