Feet Pounding
Ears Flopping
Tounges Rolling
You call them
By making kissing sounds
They come
Feet Pounding
Ears Flopping
Tounges Rolling
You keep calling them
Playing in the floor
Puppies licking your face
You don't care if others
See you
Playing in the floor
This is what you live for
Playing in the floor
Getting puppy kisses
This is what you live without
No more puppy kisses to be had.
Most of you know that my parents own a dog kennel.
This is what I miss the most.

wouldn't it be wonderful if life could be this simple...puppy kisses and playing in the floor without a care...you are right...i miss puppy kisses...they are something to be desired...i love the way you wrote this

*sigh* I wish I could have my dog here even though she doesn't give puppy kisses. Shes way to dignifies. and to think, she came from the pound... But I miss the puppy kisses more than everything else about home

Lizz, I enjoyed this style, and the (mostly) happy aura of this poem. Nice job.

So often we read poetry and fail to see below the surface of what has been written. This face value, though important, is sometimes only part of the story the words can tell. While I read this poem my mind began to wander…it took me to places I wasn’t prepared for…this was written about those stolen moments where life seems to stop and all that becomes important are the interactions of someone and something they love and now miss…this applies to so many things…so many parts of our lives, from childhood to death and all the pages in-between…for this reason I am placing it in the showcase…it captures those special moments we have all, or should have felt and tied them with the sad bow of regret when they are no longer with us…

This brought back a nice childhood memory of running down the hill on the side of the farmhouse and all the puppies would run down after me, tongues out, yapping, ears flapping up and down.
Thanks. :)

It brought back memories of lying in the dirty floor thinking of how I needed to vacuum and then deciding to play with the pups instead.

It's so true. I'm sad for you, I know it's harder than it sounds to be separated from your four legged friends.
Puppy kisses....it's cute, but there's more. So many of us want this in some way or another.
I'm glad I read this.

It is harder than people notice. I cry at least twice a week because I miss my dog so much. No-one will bring her to me because shes filthy and needs a bath and I can't go to her because CPS will put me in foster care since I'm still uunder 18...

I am awfully sorry that I did not realise this was by the same person who PMed me, this poem is so neat so simple, and so effective. It's like when your children grow up, you miss having nonesense with them, what once made them laugh now makes them cringe.

My only company since my wife left,is my pittbulls. They are still pups.
They are feal good dogs.Dogs are not bad ,people are, pittbulls are wonderfull.
Like anything you must know them and if you do see a bad one get rid of it.
Between my two dogs I hope to have 150lbs of mortal gargoyle, will sell their pups.
I will give you one though.
I want to get vet to impregnate a pitt with chawawa seed. Those I will call chits.
Although the vet would most likely use some sort of serenge, its funny as hell to minds eye a female pitt walking around with male chawawa dangling off her butt with big smile.
Any artist need a funny painting?Thats one.I shpuld write poem about it he he he.

As a dog breeder, I have to caution you against different race breeding. While it may seem funny to some people, please think of the genetic difficulties that you could be bringing into the world. I don't mean to preach or anything, but your cross-breeding could be a travesty. Please, please, don't do this.
